Joe the Plumber at Tee Fury

T-Shirts for Joe the Plumber sprang up unbelievably quickly. I waited for the debate, where Joe the Plumber was introduced to the world, between Obama and McCain to end before I put mine up but I was beaten to the punch by many at Zazzle.  I will probably post a larger list of Joe the Plumber t-shirts later but for now you have only about 4 hours left to get your hands on one of these sweet tees from Tee Fury for only $9. Tee Fury sell their shirts for $9 and they are available only for 24 hours. If you click on the image and you see a different shirt, it’s too late. Sorry.

Local Celebrity Sale

Local Celebrity is a pretty cool t-shirt store selling a selection of tees with retro stylings. They are having a sale on their election t-shirts and I think that this is something we are going to see more of day by day as the election is coming up quick and once it is over the market for these tees will decline faster than the US Sock Market after the collapse of Lehman Bros. To be honest I am not all that impressed by these shirts and I really don’t think that they will become collectors items like they say in their email but you never know.

Obama vs. McCain T-Shirt Contest

Obama McCain T-Shirt Competition at Collar Free

Collar Free,  a t-shirt competition web site, is holding a special contest. The challenge is to design a pro-presidential candidate  t-shirt (either Obama or McCain) and the prize is $250 plus 20 t-shirts. (I don’t think the 20 t-shirts will be such an attractive prize for non-Americans entering the contest.) There is also a 10% royalty “for any design someone wants to purchase even if it doesn’t win”. The contest is over soon, October 6th, so you should try get your entry in as soon as possible to be in with a chance to win. Below are two submissions that I think are pretty sweet. It’s called Obama vs. McCain but that isn’t really the case. It is basically design vs. design and there will be one winning McCain T-Shirt and one winning Obama t-shirt. If you are going to enter now, I recommend designing a McCain t-shirt as there are only 8 other designs to compete against and in my opinion the standard of design in that category is a bit lower. Go to Collar Free for more info.

Collar Free Obama T-Shirt Design Submissions

Collar Free, as I mentioned, is a t-shirt competition site. What makes it different from most of the other competition sites is the voting system which requires you to choose a favorite from the selection of tees. The reason for this system is to make voting simple and addictive and I can attest to the fact that it is both of those things. The prizes are $1 royalty per shirt but that increases if they sell more than 500 which you can see in the table below, 5 tees and a few more benefits.

Obama T-Shirt from DBH

I was pretty surprised to see today’s shirt of the day at Design by Humans be a Barack Obama t-shirt. It is not often that you see political themed shirts at the t-shirt design competition sites much less one showing support for a presidential candidate. It has caused a minor stir over at Design by Humans too with people concerned about politicizing the site. Some people, and not just conservatives, feel that there should be a McCain shirt to balance the equation. Someone else commented “I can’t see why anyone would want to wear his face on their chest.” but if you read about Cafepress and Zazzle you will find that a good deal of people want to wear his face on their chest. I think I read recently that Cafepress said that 80% of their sales were political, the majority of which were Obama products. I think you will find that many people want his face on their chests.

All that said I don’t think much of this design and you will find better on Zazzle and Cafepress. The design is too orange and too big and the pose too dour.

Obama Monkey T-Shirt

There have been protests over the sale of T-Shirts depicting Barack Obama as a monkey. It is of course a race issue. While the maker of the t-shirt claims they were not meant to be offensive and I kind of believe him (as the shirts were pro-Obama), some people were offended. I think that the protesters feel that this t-shirt, by depicting Obama as a monkey, is depicting all black people as monkeys, or something to that effect. That is BS though. It was just depicting Obama as a monkey. When Bush was depicted as a monkey I don’t remember demonstrations on the street.

I think the real issue here is that the monkey bears a striking resemblance to Curious George and so does the publishing company that owns the Curious George brand. I think the bar owner may be regretting his decision to sell t-shirts now. On the other hand, they say there is no such thing as bad publicity.

OK, I admit it. It inspired me to create some Obama 57 t-shirts and an Obama State of Confusion T-Shirt (see below video). Below is the video of Obama making a statement that will surely haunt him for years to come.

Busted Tees Pretty T-Shirt Model

I noticed that my Busted Tees new t-shirt email notification had a special draw, a special appeal. What was it you might ask? Was it the barely humorous but quite stylish Wikipedia t-shirt? Or perhaps it was the Barrack Obama “already been done” Do you smell what Barrack is cooking?” t-shirt? No, of course not. It was the superbly attractive girl modeling those t-shirts. What a stunner! Below you can check out the inspiration for the Barrack T-Shirt. You can search Wikipedia for the inspiration of the other.

Major League Baseball verses Obama

In the t-shirt business many people tread a fine line when it comes to copyright and trademark infringements. There is a definite gray area … can you say that. Maybe that’s an oxymoron but you probably get the picture.

One person who was treading that line was Morris Levin who was running a business selling Obama T-shirt’s that were based on MLB team designs. It seems the MLB wasn’t impressed and had his store, Obama of Dreams, closed down. I wonder if the MLB are Republicans or perhaps they are going to vote for Hillary.

ObamaOfDreams is closed and offline. We are no longer selling any t-shirts. We can be reached with any questions at [deleted].

We are currently working to resolve all outstanding orders. We are not taking any more orders. All outstanding orders will be addressed and we appreciate your understanding and patience as we work through this.

This is a lesson for t-shirt designers though. Beware of the MLB. Don’t step on their toes. You can find out more information over at the Smoking Gun.

Political T-Shirts at T-Shirt Hell

Those familiar with T-Shirt Hell will know that they don’t pull any punches when it comes to t-shirt designs but even so I think that these Obama and Clinton Tee Shirts are not totally tasteless. In fact they are pretty funny. The Bros Before Hoes T-Shirt has been done many times with Clinton and Obama (I’m not saying that they weren’t the first) but this is a pretty version. In fact one of the best I can remember seeing.

I did notice though, that apart from the second design shown here they are not as hard on Obama as they are on Hillary. Maybe it’s just that Hillary is better material, but I kind of think that the T-Shirt hell mob might be voting for Barrack Obama this year (assuming he gets the nomination).

Assuming you have read to the end of this post before clicking on the links to T-Shirt Hell, I warn you it is not for the faint of heart or the easily offended.
