T-Shirts for Haiti
I haven’t had time to post recently but I have been keeping up on things. One of the big things in the t-shirt industry in the last month or so has been the support for the victims of the earthquake in Haiti. Here are a collection of t-shirts or sites that are doing their bit.
1. Flying Mouse is contributing all profits from this tee too Unicef.
2. Local Celebrity collaborate with Yele Haiti and 100% of tee profits go there.

3. Threadless are contributing all proceeds (not just profit) from the sale of this tee to The American Red Cross and Haiti Relief and Development Fund. At the time of writing this post they have already sold 7000 of these $10 tees and they plan to sell up to 15,000 more. Awesome!
4. Bungie (makers of video game Halo?) are contributing profits from this t-shirt as well as all online store profits through February directly to the relief efforts in Haiti.

5. Cafepress had a t-shirt designed by Shepard Fairey (which is no longer on sale) as well as designs donated from the community which are still available. Cafepress have already donated $30,000 to the US fund for UNICEF.

6. Storenvy have a selection of beautiful shirts and $8 from each sale will go to the American Red Cross. Lots of designers offered up their designs and they all deserve a shout out but only six were chosen.

7. Blink 182 apparently raised $30,000 for Haiti with this t-shirt but it doesn’t seem to be on sale anymore.

8. Lady Gaga also added her celebrity power to a charity t-shirt with all proceeds going to the Red Cross.

9. ZBQ will donate $6 from every t-shirt sold in their until the end of February which is pretty awesome as they have a great collection of original tees.
Local Celebrity: It’s just business
I got the Local Celebrity newsletter today announcing two new shirts and looking at one of them the first thing I thought was: I’ve seen that before. And I had. For those of you who don’t know the reference it is from a Flight of the Conchords song. Watch the following video to understand why these t-shirts are clever. I chose this title because I have been thinking of the Sopranos recently and it is like something Tony would say. It’s just business, nothing personal.
Anyway the new t-shirt from Local Celebrity is not actually a new idea. Very similar versions are already available (for quite a while) on two college humor sites: 6 Dollar Shirts and Nerdy Shirts.
I am a little disappointed by Local Celebrity. I would have thought that they have more integrity but … well…whaddya gonna do? Anyway, what do you think? Leave comments below.
Retro Rocky Tees from Local Celebrity
I am not a huge fan of Local Celebrity but they do have some very wearable tees. Perhaps I am just pissed off that shipping to Japan is so exorbitant so I won’t consider buying them. Anyway, today I noticed that they have released some pretty sweet Rocky t-shirts. They are officially licensed and very cool. Check them out below.
I admit that I am a fan of the Rocky series. When I was small myself and my brother went to see a couple of the movies in the theater and when we came out we were Rocky, running around punching the air and jumping up on park benches. I watched them again a couple of years back and realized that apart from the first one they are pretty bad movies but enjoyable nonetheless. The new Rocky movie that came out wasn’t all that bad either.
$9.99 Tees at Local Celebrity
Local Celebrity are having a sale with almost 40 different shirts for sale. Sale t-shirts are $9.99 but cheaper if you buy a mystery shirt. It’s not a bad deal considering their t-shirts usually go for around the $30 mark.
Giant Mistake
I came across this t-shirt at Local Celebrity the other day. It is a Voltron Defender of the Universe t-shirt. Never heard of Voltron? Me neither but apparently it is an old anime that was even dubbed into English at one point. According to Wikipedia it wasn’t a straight dub as they removed many violent scenes to make it more palatable for the American audience. Seeing as I live in Japan one might expect that I might know quite a bit about manga and anime but I admit that I have little interest in that area. On the other hand I do read a bit of Japanese and that is why I am making this post. No, not to brag about my Japanese ability, it is not that good, but rather to tell you that Local Celebrity are misinforming you about what is written on this t-shirt.
Local Celebrity perhaps made a guess as to what was written on the tee but they were way off. Of course “Defender of the Universe” is much cooler than “Giant Robot” which is what it actually says but I think they should shoot for accuracy.
Apart from that mistake though it is a pretty sweet retro t-shirt and if you join the Local Celebrity A-List, which is free, you can get your hands on it for just $24.
Local Celebrity Sale
It almost seems that every second post these days is about some sale or other. Actually it is more than that. What can I say, there are lots of sales and great deals to be had in this season and you should know about your choices. You can also check the forum for coupons for the various PODs.
Local Celebrity is having a 40% off sale using the code BLACKISBEAUTIFUL that ends November 30th. They have a great selection of vintage and retro style t-shirts, a few of which you can see below.
Only one time a year will you find prices like these…and that time is now. From now until Sunday, save 40% on your entire order when you use the code: BLACKISBEAUTIFUL during checkout. And if you haven’t been checking back every week, you’ve missed some sweet new shirts, so be sure to check them out! Enjoy!
Local Celebrity Election Tee Clearance
Local Celebrity are trying to get rid of the their Obama and McCain t-shirts before the election completely destroys the market for them. They are selling two Barack Obama and two John McCain t-shirts for $10 dollars each and if you use the coupon code CRACKKILLS you can get a further discount of 20% effectively making your t-shirt cost $8 plus shipping. To be nonest I am not all that impressed with these t-shirts although I do like the other tees they have on offer. I am pretty sure though that I will never buy anything from this store as I live in Japan and Local Celebrity charge $50 for overseas shipping. Yes, as hard to be believe as that is, it is true. That would probably make these $8 tees the most expensive tees I ever bought.

These offers are surely limited so if you live in the United States or if you live overseas and have more money than sense don’t waste any time getting over there.
Local Celebrity Sale
Local Celebrity is a pretty cool t-shirt store selling a selection of tees with retro stylings. They are having a sale on their election t-shirts and I think that this is something we are going to see more of day by day as the election is coming up quick and once it is over the market for these tees will decline faster than the US Sock Market after the collapse of Lehman Bros. To be honest I am not all that impressed by these shirts and I really don’t think that they will become collectors items like they say in their email but you never know.
Local Celebrity T-Shirt Sale

Local Celebrity is a pretty cool t-shirt site selling t-shirts with a retro flavor. They have a vry eighties vibe for the most part. From June 30th to July 6th they ar having a July 4th sale. Yeah. Confusing. But the discount is not. 20% off everything. Just use the code Hookmeup when checking out. Below is a small selection of the great shirts that are on offer.
