Very Creative Design at LaFraise
This design is awesome. The style is very typical of laFraise but designer Cib has really done well with this one. Great concept, great execution. Check out the design closeup below.
Geek Vision for Sale
laFraise are selling a select number of their tees for €11 including this fun design by Ted Boundy. The problem is though, they don’t make it very easy to see which tees are €11. Still good price and good tees.
Review: Bytelove
10% Off at Bytelove until September 27th with code: ruderetro_com
Bytelove is a t-shirt store from the guys who brought you The Pirate Bay, * a website that has been in the news a lot recently due to their file sharing activities. There has been talk of defiance, jail time and multi-million dollar deals, the stuff of Hollywood, so you would really expect their t-shirt store to be more out there. Even if the shirts were simple, the design of the website or the language used should be entertaining but it is not. I guess it may be hard to translate humor across five languages though. Yep, Bytelove is a multilingual site.
The site as well as the t-shirts they peddle are pretty low key. They are clearly not talented illustrators but they do know how to design a wearable t-shirt. The shirts found here are pretty generic and similar tees can be found all over the internet. I even sell a few similar to them myself. Not that I am putting them down. I mean gamers and geeks dig understated as much as the next guy, and I am sure the majority of them don’t want to wear t-shirts that are clearly over the top.
The guys at Bytlelove sent over this pretty cool and yes, understated, space invader t-shirt. I love this type of shirt. It has a simple design and one color. It may be a gamer t-shirt, it may be a retro t-shirt, it may be just something you picked up. It avoids labeling. A lot of t-shirt t-shirts at Bytelove have no real design, just some text but if that’s your thing head on over. There is a huge selection or gamer and geek t-shirts to choose from. There are a few funny illustrated tee too though and below you can check out my two favorites.
The shirts seem to cost around the €19 – €22 mark and at the moment they ship from Germany but they we will start shipping from within the US soon to be able to offer faster delivery, cheaper prizes and better service for their US-customers.
* Correction: “we are a partner of the pirate bay, meaning we are selling shirts and hoodies with their logo and pay them a part of the profit to support them, but we do not belong to them in any way.”
Apple Mac T-Shirt Quilt
If you are ever wondering where t-shirts go when they die this may be a real eye-opener for you. Like something you could only imagine happening in a t-shirt horror movie, someone has chopped up 20 (I guess) Apple t-shirts and sewed them together to make a quilt. It is for sale on eBay and the bidding ends in just over three days so if you are interested in this item you had better start paying attention. The current bid is $305.
Approximately 66″ X 56″. Newly stitched incorporating 20 panels of distinct official Apple T-Shirts. Machine stitched, hand tied. The backing is dark blue made from 60% cotton 40% polyester new material. OS8, iMac, OS X, iPod… a brief history of Apple on a quilt.
Potentially Irritating T-Shirts
If you are one of those people who get irritated by people who love drumming on everything you are totally going to hate this t-shirt. This t-shirt’s design hides a functional battery operated drum kit so those finger drummers can get more range. The drum kit has seven distinct drums that are all playable. This is sold by ThinkGeek T-Shirts and makes me think that it is finally time to change their name to BeBigGeek.com. It costs $29.99, batteries not included. Below you can check out a video of it in action.
Even if I was a drumming fanatic I’m not sure I would want to have a battery operated t-shirt. And from someone who has put his own passport in the washing machine twice I don’t know how long this t-shirt would last.
Pi Day T-Shirts
There seems to be a day for everything these days. It’s getting pretty ridiculous. It kind of takes away from the other days. Today is Pi Day. Yes, that’s right … Pi Day. March 14 was chosen for obvious reasons and if you can’t get it I suggest you either go back to school or ask a school kid. This worries me a little though, as it is so close to Paddy’s Day. What if all those math nerds party too hard and then there is nobody left to rock on the 17th?
So I came up with this plan. I will display a bunch of pi t-shirts here and hopefully they will be so caught up trying to choose the perfect pi t-shirt that they will forget to go out on a Pi Night Bender and the’ll be all refreshed and ready for drunken Paddy’s Day revelry.
