$10,000 Winner Announced at Design by Humans
Sorry for the lack of posts recently. I’ve just been very busy. Unfortunately (or fortunately) the t-shirt world didn’t wait around for me. There has been plenty of activity and I think the announcement of a new winner at Design by Humans DBH10K is big news indeed.
Mecha-Lebaw T-Shirts by csj89 takes first place in the DBH10K and wins $10,000
This is a 5th win for Philippines designer, csj89, at Design by Humans and there are surely more to come.
The second place was also taken by a Philippines designer and last years winner Collision Theory. It will be the next t-shirt printed.
Third place went to Tang Yau Hoong for his surreal cityscape. The t-shirt came out very well.

DBH10K 5th Place
The first of the runners up at Design by Humans huge DBH10K contest has been announced and it is a well deserved win by thestray called Umibozu, a design which is based on a Japanese legend. A well deserved win and the t-shirt has an all-over front print. There is a bit of controversy on the forums about this tee though because the t-shirt came out quite a bit different from the concept. You can compare them below. Either way, it is a pretty cool t-shirt.

Last chance to vote at DBH10K
There are probably just a few minutes left to vote for your favorite design at Design by Humans DBH10K. As you should know at this point this is Design by Humans second DBH10K and they are basically a huge birthday celebration for them except instead of receiving birthday gifts they hold this awesome contest with a gigantic grand prize. I think it might be around $10,000 but wouldn’t be all that surprised if the winner ended up earning more.
Anyway, as you may know from my previous post, I am voting for Gloopz’s SOS Strawberry Flavour, because I think it makes the best t-shirt. I like the other designs and even though they may be more intricate or refined that SOS, it basically comes down to which one I want to wear.
DBH10K Final 10 Vote Now
Design by Humans have narrowed it down to 10 designs for the DBH10K. So you can go and vote now to help decide who gets the $10,000 prize money. Two of the three designs I voted for in the last round made it through but to be honest I don’t think either of them will snag the grand prize. I voted based on which t-shirt I would wear rather than which design I thought was the most intricate or beautiful because it is a t-shirt design contest, nobody will be hanging them on the wall. (Well, someone might.) Actually though this contest is a bit of a popularity contest too. If you are a popular designer and are active in the DBH forums there is a higher chance that you will win because your friends will vote for you. Maybe better then this voting system where the strength of someone’s personality can beat design skills, there should be a panel of judges. Anyway, I guess this is the way it is and there is not point in playing what if. Also this voting system makes the DBH community feel more involved.
This time I decided to vote for just one design and that is SOS Strawberry Flavour by gloopz.
DBH10K Final 20 Vote Now
Design by Humans announced the top twenty finalists for their super DBH10K contest. If you want to vote you have to do it now because in a couple of hours they are going to announce the top 10 finalists. I voted for three of the top twenty. I wonder how many will go through to the next round. Of course the big question is who will will take home the $10,000. Last year it was Collision Theory and it changed his life.
$10,000 Prize at DBH
Design by Humans is celebrating its second birthday with another huge contest which I’m sure will attract some great designers giving up their best work in the hopes of snagging the $10,000 cash prize. This contest is called the DBH 10K and it is the second time it has been held. I wonder will it be the same designers dominating the leader board this year as last.

DBK10K Announces Winner
Design by Humans have just announced that Black Hole Sun by Collision Theory is the winner of the grand prize of their DBH10K contest. The winner getting, of course, $10,000. To be honest I am a bit surprised by the win as it was the least favorite of even the final 10 and whats more, Design by Humans seem to have changed the coloring. The submitted design seemed much better than what they are selling. I notice too that this t-shirt is available in three colors but none of them do it for me.
Second place was taken by Altitude Sickness by BRCollective. I think this was the favorite to win because of the big color splashes which are almost trademark DBH. It is a stunning piece and also available on three different color shirts. The design was a collaboration effort by members of the Black Rock Collective. I have recently seen quite a lot of collaborations in these contests. I guess it might increase the chances of a win but at the same time it decreases the payout.
DBH10K 3rd Place
Design by Humans have just announced their 3rd place winner in their grand DBH10K contest. While the top spot will get you $10,000, 3rd gets you a thousand. This is a 4th win for artist radiomode for his design PPP (perversion of paranoid populace). This a great design that’ll surely be a hit for conspiracy theorists and George Orwell fans alike.

Design by Humans have just announced their 4th place winner in their grand DBH10K contest. While the top spot will get you $10,000, 4th gets you a thousand. Still a sweet prize. In this case 4th place goes to Jimiyo’s Fight the Good Fight. This design must have taken a lot of time as the detail is amazing. I like Jimiyo’s work but with a few exceptions they are not t-shirts I would wear. That mostly stems from the fact that middle aged ladies over here wear tops with designs similar to what he produces, in fact similar to this one.
DBH10K 5th Place
Well, my favorite DBH10K entry placed 5 in the competition so I am a little disappointed for Mathiole but fortunately the t-shirt is going to be printed and he will be rewarded for his entry. There are four t-shirts left in the running and the runners up will be announced each day for the next few days. Mathiole’s t-shirt is already on sale for those who want to wear what in my opinion is the best t-shirt to come out of Design by Humans in a long time.
