Typoshirt One

Yes, this is another of my catch up posts and it may also serve as a reminder to those of you thinking of submitting your t-shirts. If it were me and I had an awesome typography t-shirt I would definitely want to submit and would love to have my t-shirt printed in the book. What? OK, I should explain first. These guys see, they are going to make a book and then put photo of type tees in it and then sell it to loads of people. People who have created these tees will submit them, not for monetary gain, but for recognition (and a free book). Sounds cool to me. Read my copy and paste below or head over the the Typoshirt One page for more details.
TypoShirt One is about typography on T-shirts. It is definitely not the first publication that deals with the topic of “T-shirts”, but it’s the first one that focuses exclusively on the typography phenomenon in T-shirt culture. Only shirt motifs created explicitly with typographic means shall be presented in this publication. There are no fees, it’s totally cost free!
We would like to invite everybody to contribute to the book TypoShirt One, the typography T-shirt compendium. The book will be published at Index Books in 2010.
We invite everybody to submit their own projects for this publication, bringing together typographic designs of T-shirts from all over the world, showing quotes, sentences, words, letters and numbers or any other typographic pieces of work.
Participation or having work selected for TypoShirt One is totally cost free on your part. Also, if your work is selected, you’ll get a free copy of the book.
Deadline to enter your submissions is 19th of March 2010.
Please check our website. At http://typoshirt.magmabranddesign.de you’ll find all participation requirements.
I’m guessing from the name of the project that they are already considering more books. Very ambitious!
Fair and Bare Quick Sale
Celebrating a birthday is a good enough reason to have a sale and that is exactly what they are doing over at Fare and Bare. Ian from Fair and Bare will be 28 on the 28th of this month and he is giving a 28% coupon that can be used for just 28 36 hours (that’s 12pm Friday to 12am Sunday Morning). I assume that is Greenwich Mean Time as Fair and Bare is based in the UK. Just use the coupon: HAPPYBDAY.
Fair and Bare only use Fairtrade certified cotton and waterbased inks.
Supporting T-Shirt Designers
I have mentioned the crowdsourcing/crowdfunding t-shirt site Cameesa before and I have been waiting for a design that I would like to support. You can check out my previous post about Cameesa’s crowdfunding system for details but put briefly, for a t-shirt to be printed at Cameesa it needs investors. If there is enough investment ($500) the t-shirt will be printed. The rules have changed slightly since my last post making t-shirt investment more attractive but you can check out their site for details.
Well the time has come for me to put my money where my mouth is. This mockup of a t-shirt by Draco will be my first venture into crowdfunding a t-shirt. So if you like this design and want to see it as an actual t-shirt I ask you to go over and invest $20. If it is fully funded the least you will get is a sweet t-shirt. If the t-shirt becomes very successful and sells about 700 shirts you can even get your investment back. (Disclaimer: Please check the math yourself: $0.03 per every shirt sold.) If the shirt doesn’t get printed you can even get your money back. What have you to lose?
A Coincidental Triangle
I just got home to find that TeeFury are now selling a Penrose Triangle t-shirt. After posting about Penrose Triangle t-shirts just short while before it went on sale I thought the coincidence was enough to warrant a post. I admit that the TeeFury shirt is not impressive when compared to the three in examples in my previous post but it is only $9. Tee are only available for 24 hours at TeeFury so if you want to get your hands on one don’t waste time.
Spring’s Awakening at TeeFury
Fellow blogger EZ-KUN (T-Shirt Factory) has just had one of his designs printed at TeeFury and I think it is one of the sweetest designs I have seen over there for quite a while. If you want to get your hands on this shirt though don’t waste any time as shirts stay on sale for only 24 hours at TeeFury. I guess that is what puts the Fury in TeeFury. There is just under 15 hours left as I write this post. Tees cost just $9 too. $2 shipping to the US. Congratulations EZ-KUN.
Jimiyo Shirt on TeeFury
Wow, it’s like all I can talk about these days is either Jimiyo or TeeFury. No, I am not obsessed, it is merely coincidental. Jimiyo is a fine artist and you don’t get the opportunity to purchase his shirts for $9 dollars very often. There is a catch though. There is only a 24 hour window of opportunity. When the 24 hours are up there will be another t-shirt for sale and this one will be gone.
I also just noticed that TeeFury has started shipping internationally for just $5*. Finally, I will be able to check out their quality first hand.
*Shipping costs depend on the destination. Japan is $9.

Random Shirts 50% off Sale
Well, I guess you have already figured out that Random Shirts is having a sale and their biggest sale ever if what they are saying is to be believed. They have a nice slection of funny tees in their store and thanks to this sale you can get your hands on some of them for as little as $5 + shipping. If you are in the market for a few shirts but are on a budget you could hardly do worse.
Fukuda ASCII T-Shirt
It seems that Japanese PODs are picking up on the fact that there is money to be made in political tees. In Japan the latest Prime Minister has announced his resignation which was no big surprise really and in a press conference he said 「あなたとは違うんです。」 which translates as “I’m different from you.” I guess this statement riled a few people and the video was posted on youtube and the infamous ni-channel where it is said this gun-toting ASCII version of Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda appeared first. Then it was quickly snapped up by ClubT to become one of their best selling t-shirts. The t-shirt is pretty cool and the design is available on a selection of items and shirts.
$7 T-Shirts from Ten Bills
The good folk from Ten Bills kindly sent over a coupon for readers of the T-Shirt Review. Just enter the code summer at checkout to receive 30% discount. The coupon expires on July 14th so don’t wasted any time.
Ten Bills seems to have a pretty cool selection of t-shirts for only ten bills. That’s right. Ten dollar t-shirts and with a 30% discount, if I am doing my math correctly, that makes them $7 t-shirts. Of course you have to pay for shipping which in my case, as I live in Japan, would come to $22.50. Effectively making my tee cost $29.50. If you live in the US though, I am sure it’s still a bargain.
They do have some very cool shirts over there. Below are some of my favorites. If you are into robots, they have a superb selection too.
