I mentioned a while ago that there was a Star Wars t-shirt event in Uniqlo Ginza and Uniqlo’s UT Harajuku stores. I didn’t have a chance to attend but a couple of Japanese bloggers did. Even if you can’t read Japanese you can enjoy the photos.

Check out these two Japanese Star Wars fan sites to see more pictures.

The tees that Uniqlo released are not great but they are officially licensed if that’s your thing. They do have a pretty cool vintage vibe though. Again, the site is in Japanese and you need to scroll down a little to see the 6 Star Wars tees on offer.

Handsome Men’s Club T-Shirt

I don’t watch Jimmy Kimmel. There’s no particular reason that I don’t watch him. I just don’t. I have seen a few clips on youtube though and some of the sketches were funny. The whole Matt Damon, Sarah Silverman thing was quite good. Well, it did deteriorate but it started out well. I just saw this video and I’m not sure if it was funny or if it was interesting just because there were a lot of stars in it but anyway, I’m pretty sure that there will be a ton of HMC t-shirts coming out soon because of it and not surprisingly the first one I found was from Zazzle. Actually I was just about to upload my own version when I found it and as it was better than mine I decided to post about it.

Werewolf parody tee

I guess with the new Benicio Del Toro werewolf movie coming up and Taylor Lautner of course I am guessing we will see  a pack of werewolf t-shirts coming out, full moon or not. But for someone like me, your favorite werewolf is probably the the Michael J. Fox high school coming of age basketball hero comedy from the eighties. And while this t-shirt is inspired by an even older werewolf movie called the Curse of the Werewolf it pays homage to Teen Wolf. Nice lines, nice color and great tattooed model from laFraise.

Larry David versus Motorhead

I’m not really sure how these guys made a connection between Larry David and Motorhead but I’m not sure that it matters either because this shirt works. I’m pretty sure Larry David wouldn’t wear this t-shirt, I think he’d be chuffed to see it but I don’t think he would wear it. Great for fans of Curb your Enthusiasm and Motorhead…I guess. I’d wear it…$15.

DC Comics comes to Zazzle

DC Comics on Zazzle

Zazzle now selling DC Comics T-Shirts

Zazzle are pretty good at getting what must be pretty lucrative licenses and getting the DC Comics license is a big event. Now you can get official Batman, Superman, Super Girl, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern and Justice League merchandise that you can customize and it’s all in one place.

I am not really into comics. When I was a child in Ireland it wasn’t easy to find DC or Marvel comics and when you did find them they were a little out of my price range. I did enjoy the Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman TV series though as well as the Batman and Superman movies of course. I loved the original Tim Burton Batman movie and I was a big Prince fan at the time so it was bonus that he did the soundtrack.

Anyway, I think that there are a lot of crap designs on these t-shirts that are really only suitable for kids but the Batman store has a nice selection that even adults could wear. I think they really could do better though. Zazzle did amazing work with the Star Wars stores. Hopefully they will add more interesting designs to the DC Comics stores soon.

Check out some examples below. I think you can also get $4 off t-shirts at until March 8th with the coupon code: 4OFFPATTYTEE.

Lost Polar Beer T-Shirt is back!

Ian Leino sent me an email a while back to let me know that this Lost inspired t-shirt, which in its previous incarnation was sold at Teefury, was making its second appearance in his own Big Cartel hosted store.

I ripped this quote from host blog because it has some juicy details about the creation of this design:

Lost Parody: Polar Beer T-Shirt by Ian Leino

Created entirely by hand with scratchboard, my newest design squarely inhabits the junction of LOST mythology and classic beer label design, executed in a vintage, hand-tooled style rarely seen in t-shirt graphics. Or at least I’VE never used it before

This t-shirt was popular enough at Teefury that even one of the writers of the show was wearing it. Not bad considering it was on sale for just one day.

I am a fan of Lost and am looking forward to seeing how it plays out. I hope they have some good explanations and conclusions.

Star Wars parody at Flying Mouse 365

Star Wars sells. That’s a fact. Yesterday there was a Start Wars parody on TeeFury and even though it was pretty lame, a re-imagining of the “We can do it!” poster with Princess Leia as the riveter. Today Flying Mouse have released 7 new shirts and 2 new hoodies that will be available for only one week and one of them is a Star Wars parody tee. It’s definitely more fun than Leia the Riveter. Check it and Flying Mouse’s other tees now.

Lost Writer in TeeFury Lost Parody T-Shirt

One of the writers and executive producers of hit TV show Lost has been caught wearing a Lost parody t-shirt created for t-shirt-a-day site TeeFury. It will probably land them a bit of traffic but they won’t be able to sell any more of those t-shirts because they are on sale for one day only. Perhaps the tee in question will go on sale somewhere else. Ian Leino, The designer must be chuffed.

Local Celebrity: It’s just business

I got the Local Celebrity newsletter today announcing two new shirts and looking at one of them the first thing I thought was: I’ve seen that before. And I had. For those of you who don’t know the reference it is from a Flight of the Conchords song. Watch the following video to understand why these t-shirts are clever. I chose this title because I have been thinking of the Sopranos recently and it is like something Tony would say. It’s just business, nothing personal.

Anyway the new t-shirt from Local Celebrity is not actually a new idea. Very similar versions are already available (for quite a while) on two college humor sites: 6 Dollar Shirts and Nerdy Shirts.

I am a little disappointed by Local Celebrity. I would have thought that they have more integrity but … well…whaddya gonna do? Anyway, what do you think? Leave comments below.

Afro Samurai Tshirts from Jinks

Afro Samurai at AmazonI haven’t actually seen this movie which is probably rare for someone in my situation. I mean I live in Japan and am a fan of Samuel L. Jackson. On the other hand I am not really into anime and haven’t had a whole lot of free time recently so when I watch a movie it will be live action.

I think this movie got mixed reviews but I am sure it will get cult status at some point if it hasn’t already.

Anyway, this is a tshirt blog, not a blog about movies I haven’t watched yet (now that’s an interesting idea) so I am here to tell you that Jinks are selling four new Afro Samurai t-shirts and they are not bad at all. In about 20 years they may even be the epitome of retro cool but who knows. Check them out and let me know what you think of them below. You might as well tell us what you think about the AFRO Samurai movies too. Convince me to watch them!
