T-Shirts - Batteries Not Included
I have posted about various t-shirts that require batteries (here, here and here) and I have just come across a shop selling tees with a graphic equalizer like function. The designs on these tees react to the sounds around them making the wearer appear to be a total douche bag. They are a bit of fun though. Most of them are spoofs and/or probable copyright infringements but what do I know. Maybe they are legally licensed. Below is a selection from the store. They are all $45 and available from Jetsobox which appears to be based in Asia. you can also check out videos of the various tees reacting to the music.
So when you are going clubbing in one of these babies don’t forget your batteries. Your dignity on the other hand you will leave at home.
It’s Britney Bitch!
Filed under: Band T-Shirts, Celebrity, Music, Zazzle
I noticed a few days ago that a Britney Spears calendar (official) had appeared on Zazzle. Britney Spears, for all her faults, is a huge star, a pop icon so I think Zazzle did well to get the opportunity to hock her official goods to her legions of fans. When I checked out Britney Spears’ Gallery at Zazzle though I found that there was only one item - the calendar. I guess it will sell well but t-shirts and other merchandise would have a more lasting appeal. Perhaps more merchandise will be added at a later date.
Anyway, finding Britney prompted me to get off my ass and tell people about the other music artists that have been selling their official merchandise on Zazzle. I think before that Zazzle spent a lot of resources trying to attract famous names and brands and as far as I can see they have been pretty successful in their endeavor. You can click on the images below to be taken to the artist’s stores at Zazzle. I didn’t include all the artists and new artists are probably added to the line up on a regular basis so if you are very curious you can check out the music page at Zazzle. If you are a musician you should think about using Zazzle as a means to promote your band and make a little dosh too.
Musical Shirt

Wearable Toy Piano from instructables
Not so long ago I posted about a drum t-shirt that was sold by ThinkGeek.com but this one really takes the biscuit. You won’t find this shirt at Think Geek though. You have to go over to instructables to read a tutorial on how they are made and if you still want one you will need the following (and you mind seen to):
-Toy piano (batteries included)
-T-shirt
-conductive fabric
-conductive thread
-normal thread
-neoprene (or normal thick fabric)
-fusible interface (iron on)
-3mm foam sheet
-ink jet iron on paper
-poppers
-electronic wireTool:
-needle
-scissors
-iron
-hammer
-soldering iron
-ink jet printer
-screw driver
I’m afraid the sound quality of the video is really poor but you don’t need to have sound to appreciate how dumb this shirt looks. I don’t really know who would want to either make this or wear it but it takes all sorts.
I/denti/tee from Edun Live
Edun Live was founded by Bono and his wife Ali Hewson to help improve lives in Africa. All the t-shirts are made in Africa by Africans. They have recently launched a new t-shirt website called I/denti/tee which sells t-shirts (Edun Live) with song lyrics that begin with “I”. At the moment there are only nine shirts but they intend to create many more and they are letting people make suggestions on their web-site. All the t-shirts cost $35 which is a little expensive for a text design t-shirt but it also includes 10 free tunes from iTunes. Any ten songs. That’s like knocking $10 off the cost and will be especially attractive for those who regularly download from iTunes. And yes, for those of you who are wondering, they do have permission to use the lyrics and they even pay royalties for every shirt sold to the respective artists. At the moment they are only shipping to the US but they are preparing for International shipping as we speak.
At the moment the following lyric t-shirts are available:
- I love rock n’ roll
- I still haven’t found what im looking for
- I will survive
- I used to rule the world
- I’m a hustler baby
- I’m wanted dead or alive
- I’m the only one
- I wanna dance with somebody
- I go back
You can choose either black t-shirts with white text or vice versa. There is a hint in the FAQ that they may add more products to the lineup at a later date.
If you are interested in Edun Live but not so much in the I/denti/tee you can try the Edun Live store itself or the Edun Live store at Zazzle. In fact all designs that are on Zazzle t-shirts are available on Edun Live t-shirts. You can even add your own design if you want something unique. (It seems like I can link just about any post to Zazzle at this stage. It’s not intentional. It’s just that Zazzles fingers are getting into a lot of pies lately.)

$9 Bob Dylan T-Shirt
Blatant intellectual property infringement though it may be, there is a very cool t-shirt featuring a Bob Dylan caricature (by Randy McQuien Jr) at TeeFury today. Hurry though as these $9 t-shirts only stay in stock for 24 hours.
Obama Yes We Did T-Shirts
Filed under: Celebrity, Music, Political T-Shirts, Rude Retro, Zazzle
In my life time I don’t remember such excitement about a new President and this excitement still continues today. Of course Barack Obama doesn’t officially hold the title of President yet but it is just a matter of months. I saw this video this morning on youtube and it inspired me to make a post about the new Obama T-Shirts that have been produced (some by me) since his election victory. These are all from Zazzle and there are many more to choose from but these were some of my favorites.
I think that we can thank Will.I.Am for his contribution to the campaign as his two previous songs in support of Barack Obama are surely to thank for getting young people out there to vote. You can check out those videos below.
Potentially Irritating T-Shirts
If you are one of those people who get irritated by people who love drumming on everything you are totally going to hate this t-shirt. This t-shirt’s design hides a functional battery operated drum kit so those finger drummers can get more range. The drum kit has seven distinct drums that are all playable. This is sold by ThinkGeek T-Shirts and makes me think that it is finally time to change their name to BeBigGeek.com. It costs $29.99, batteries not included. Below you can check out a video of it in action.
Even if I was a drumming fanatic I’m not sure I would want to have a battery operated t-shirt. And from someone who has put his own passport in the washing machine twice I don’t know how long this t-shirt would last.
Celebrities Love La Coka Nostra
Filed under: Band T-Shirts, Celebrity, Music, Poll, Pop Culture, Video
Coming home from a baseball game yesterday in which the Yokohama Baystars kicked the Yakult Swallows behinds badly I noticed this pretty cool t-shirt. As you can see I just got a glimpse of it but luckily I was able to find it on teh internets. I hadn’t heard of La Coka Nostra but I am not into the hip-hop scene so much. It seems though that they have been a bit of a MySpace sensation and they will have an album released this year. I have included one of their videos at the end of this post but be warned: strong language is used.
More importantly though, the t-shirt designer is a graffiti artist called SLICK and they are printed on the DISSIZIT label. They have a great selection of t-shirts and you don’t have to be in to hip-hop to appreciate them. They are the ultimate urban cool and you will definitely stand out from the crowd wearing them. I imagine a good deal of people will find DISSIZIT t-shirts offensive though. Especially the Christian themed ones.

Actually the Paris Hilton and the Kate Moss t-shirts are from 2007 and they may be pretty hard to get your hands on at this stage although I have found a store in Japan that seems to have some of the Kate Moss t-shirts left in an XL. Costs ¥5,500 (about $60) though. I much prefer Kate Moss to Paris Hilton but I prefer the Paris Hilton t-shirt.

In this Japanese store you can see some of the 2008 releases from DISSIZIT and this time the La Coka Nostra features the delectable Angelina Jolie. I don’t think this tee is designed by SLICK though.

The three t-shirts have a definite theme though, with all the girls being famous bad girls. Tell us which is your favorite with the poll below.
Britney Spears Mickey Mouse Club Tee
Britney Spears Mickey Mouse Club t-shirt, along with other celeb memorabilia, is going under the virtual hammer at gottahaverockandroll.com. It has been worn by the pop diva herself and signed, I believe, my the other Mickey Mouse Club members. I think I can see Britney’s signature on the right sleave and Christina Aguilera’s on the left. So, whether you are some type of pervert who hopes to be able to sniff something that Britney has worn, a crazy Disney fan or just have more money than sense here is your chance to get your hands on one expensive t-shirt. It seems you can expect to pay from $15,000 to $18,000. That’s a lot of gas. Probably not so much at next years prices though.

Uniqlock - Don’t Ask
I came across this on the Uniqlo site but I don’t really know what it is. On the other hand, if you are happy enough to watch videos of cute Japanese girls dancing then it doesn’t really matter what it is.
*Edit: OK, I did a quick check and found out a bit more info. I posted it below the video.
What is Uniqlock?
UNIQLO blog parts UNIQLOCK first appeared on our home page in June 2007 as part of our polo shirt campaign. UNIQLOCK are blog parts with an inbuilt clock function. A group of girls wearing UNIQLO clothes introduce their original dance with the screen changing in time with the clock. The overriding aim is to transmit UNIQLO’s global view to the world using our MUSIC×DANCE×CLOCK form of communication that can transcend any language barrier.
At the same time, our WORLD.UNIQLOCK has become increasingly well known in the Internet world. The WORLD.UNIQLOCK page on our website shows a world map displaying the number and location of users who incorporate UNIQLOCK parts into their own blogs.
When we launched our second cashmere version of UNIQLOCK in October 2007, we had 33,481 blog parts established in 73 countries around the world.
We launched our third version of UNIQLOCK blog parts, “20 COLOR T”, on April 28 in which we express a strange world where live pictures and animation merge.
UNIQLO is currently aggressively expanding its global operations in New York, London, Paris, Hong Kong, South Korea and China. We will continue to design promotions focusing on our key ”global” theme.
