Stormtroopers invade Harajuku
I mentioned a while ago that there was a Star Wars t-shirt event in Uniqlo Ginza and Uniqlo’s UT Harajuku stores. I didn’t have a chance to attend but a couple of Japanese bloggers did. Even if you can’t read Japanese you can enjoy the photos.
Check out these two Japanese Star Wars fan sites to see more pictures.
The tees that Uniqlo released are not great but they are officially licensed if that’s your thing. They do have a pretty cool vintage vibe though. Again, the site is in Japanese and you need to scroll down a little to see the 6 Star Wars tees on offer.
Star Wars T-Shirts coming to UT

Star Wars fans: mark your calendars. Uniqlo have announced that they will be releasing a Star Wars line on March 3rd 6th in the Harajuku UT store as well as Uniqlo Ginza. So if you are in Tokyo on that day you might want to check it out. They note that Boba Fett won’t be making an appearance at the stores. I’m not quite sure what that means though.
I have to go to Tokyo on that day and it is fairly close to Harajuku so I might just pop in to see what’s happening. That’s a big might though. Wrong day. Woops.
Afro Samurai Tshirts from Jinks

I haven’t actually seen this movie which is probably rare for someone in my situation. I mean I live in Japan and am a fan of Samuel L. Jackson. On the other hand I am not really into anime and haven’t had a whole lot of free time recently so when I watch a movie it will be live action.
I think this movie got mixed reviews but I am sure it will get cult status at some point if it hasn’t already.
Anyway, this is a tshirt blog, not a blog about movies I haven’t watched yet (now that’s an interesting idea) so I am here to tell you that Jinks are selling four new Afro Samurai t-shirts and they are not bad at all. In about 20 years they may even be the epitome of retro cool but who knows. Check them out and let me know what you think of them below. You might as well tell us what you think about the AFRO Samurai movies too. Convince me to watch them!
Retro Rocky Tees from Local Celebrity
I am not a huge fan of Local Celebrity but they do have some very wearable tees. Perhaps I am just pissed off that shipping to Japan is so exorbitant so I won’t consider buying them. Anyway, today I noticed that they have released some pretty sweet Rocky t-shirts. They are officially licensed and very cool. Check them out below.
I admit that I am a fan of the Rocky series. When I was small myself and my brother went to see a couple of the movies in the theater and when we came out we were Rocky, running around punching the air and jumping up on park benches. I watched them again a couple of years back and realized that apart from the first one they are pretty bad movies but enjoyable nonetheless. The new Rocky movie that came out wasn’t all that bad either.
I’m Not Pussyfooting T-Shirt
Filed under: Funny Stuff, Movie T-Shirts, Rude Retro, Zazzle
It has been a very long time since I promoted one of my own t-shirts so give me a break. Actually I haven’t had time to design many tees recently and to be honest, when Cafepress reduced our commissions to 10% I lost a lot of motivation. Of course this is at Zazzle who are great. I hope to start designing for them again soon but don’t worry I won’t post all of my new designs here.
AT-AT: FAIL! TEE SHIRTS
There was a time when the official t-shirts for movies and tie ins were badly designed humorless affairs marketed to children but that is no longer the case. This is a great tee for fans of Star Wars.
Color coded criminals T-Shirt
I just noticed this t-shirt is included in the Threadless Classics sale. When I Reservoir Dogs for the first time I was blown away. This was an amazing movie so much so that I saw it twice in the cinema which was a big thing for a student as poor as I was. I was an instant Tarantino fan although now…not so much.
T-Shirt by Loy Valera aka kaloyster is only $12 in the Threadless Classics sale.
$9.99 Tees at Local Celebrity
Local Celebrity are having a sale with almost 40 different shirts for sale. Sale t-shirts are $9.99 but cheaper if you buy a mystery shirt. It’s not a bad deal considering their t-shirts usually go for around the $30 mark.
Star Trek T-Shirt Design Contest at Yerzies
A long while ago I did a review of POD site Yerzies and haven’t really checked them out since but it seems now that they have started to have some design contest the second of which is a Star Trek design contest. Star Trek is a big topic at the moment with the release of the new Star Trek movie which has in general gotten fairly good press and really good box office. There are a lot of Star Trek fans out there and this is a great opportunity for a Trekkie/Trekker with some design skills to become a part of the Star Trek wold by designing an official Star Trek t-shirt.
Unfortunately not everyone need apply. I noticed this condition:
Anyone who is at least 18 years of age or the applicable age of majority in his/her place of residence, if older than 18 years of age and who is a legal resident of one of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia.
The prize is $500 plus goodies and you must submit your design for voting before May 28th. Any registered member can vote even if they can’t submit designs. I have a feeling that high votes alone won’t be enough to win this contest but I may be wrong. As of writing this post there were no submissions displayed on the site. However there are some pretty decent Star Trek tees on sale already.
Star Trek Uniform T-Shirts

With the release of the new Star Trek movie I think we are going to see a resurgence of Star Trek merchandise. I have already seen a t-shirt somewhere that will certainly have sales driven by the release. I think the owners of the Star Trek brand will put a stop to most of it though like they did with the parody, Bar Trekkin’, recently. ThinkGeek, on the other hand, have an officially licensed top or several of them in various colors. So now you Trekkies, Trekkers and wannabe Enterprise crew can suit up in your favorite colors – blue, red, yellow or green for Captain.
“Four officially licensed shirts, in command-gold, ops-red, sciences-blue, and captain-green. Each shirt has a different “flex and flock” insignia, depending on the department, all of which are on the upper-left chest, except for the captain’s green shirt which places the insignia low on the hip. 100% preshrunk cotton.”
There are also a couple of other Star Trek inspired shirts that may or may not be licensed goods too but you would probably have had to have see a few episodes of Star Trek to get them. Yes, guilty as charged but I stopped watching them about 20 years ago. God I’m old. Anyway you can check out the Resistance is Futile and Expendable t-shirts below.
