Mr. Tee

This tee has been making the rounds on various blogs with mixed reviews and I can totally understand that because I wasn’t all that impressed with it the first time I saw it but it has grown on me. It’s not a DTG print but actually an 8 color screenprint unless Threadless are lying to us which I sincerely doubt. It’s a fun t-shirt creating the image of Mr. T out of folded t-shirts. Hence the name, Mr. Tee. It remnds me of the art created using cassette tapes. Nice one.

Kardashian’s Bieber Fever

It seems that reality TV star, Kim Kardashian is jumping on the Justin Bieber bandwagon. If you don’t know who Justin Bieber is as this stage you crawl out from under that rock. Justin and Kim met somewhere and Justin tweeted a photo of them together. After that Kim claimed to get some death threats from Justin’s tweeny fans. It’s a bit of marketing genius on Kardashian’s side. I’m impressed. It is much better than making a porno and selling it. On the other hand, perhaps if she hadn’t made the porno she would never had the photo op with the Biebs.

I know what you are thinking right, Rude Retro’s blog is a t-shirt blog not a celebrity gossip blog. OK, confession time. I like celeb gossip. I don’t know why but perhaps it is some innate longing to be a celeb myself. Don’t worry though, there is a t-shirt store in here and that is after receiving the death threats the very brave (and attractive) Kim Kardashian decided to have this t-shirt made that says Mrs. Beiber. (Yes. Beiber, not Bieber.) She’s just a fun gal after all.

Lady Gay Gay T-Shirt gets you sent home from school

In my day it wasn’t easy to get sent home from school. Now you can simply wear a t-shirt that has the word gay on it or perhaps it’s because the word gay on it twice which could be seen as promoting threesomes? This is ridiculous in my opinion and am curious about the actual reason the kid was sent home. What was so offensive about the t-shirt? It’s not promoting hate or even partisanship but love. Love should be supported even if it is a teenage boys love for a pop icon that could pass for a male transvestite.

Mad Andy Kaufman T-Shirt

American Apparel have just released this wild Andy Kaufman t-shirt. The shirt is about as wild as he is. I wouldn’t wear this, the print is too big and the Andy Kaufman face is a bit scary but I’m sure there are a few fans of both the style and the man out there who would be more than happy to don Andy’s face. Andy is probably turning in his grave. (Two posts in a row I am guessing what other people would feel and this time it’s a dead person. Maybe that’s my new thing.)

Side note: I was old enough to know who Andy Kaufman was before the Jim Carrey biopic came out. From the Taxi series. Although it was in Ireland so probably a few years after its release stateside.

Tiger Woods Cheater Tees

Well, they were sure to come. I mean overnight this guy turned from sporting golden child to sleazebucket. This is not the first Tiger Woods cheater t-shirt and hopefully not the best and surely not the last either but it is a Tiger Woods cheater t-shirt. I do feel sorry for his wife and kids though.

10% Off Will Ferrell at Design by Humans

Will Ferrell has been spotted in a Design by Humans t-shirt and the world rejoices. Well, I don’t know about the world but there are a lot of people excited over at DBH. I am not a big fan of Will Ferrell’s brand of humor but he is very popular. I think that if he doesn’t have a hit movie soon he’ll become a direct to video victim though.

I know that there are a few freaks in the world who will want to wear this tee just because Will Ferrell is wearing it but unfortunately it is sold out at the moment…too bad losers. But you can have the design as your desktop wallpaper.

Anyway, maybe Design by Humans were so happy about this celebrity wearing their tee that they have provide a 10% off coupon that expires on November 15th: TNQCQK.

I came across this cool but slightly overpriced t-shirt this morning. If you are a fan of entourage’ Johnny Drama you might like this one.

Britney Spears T-Shirt Contest

OK, so the prize is pretty weak but for Britney fans the honor of designing a t-shirt that will be sold in her store will probably more than make up for it. I’m not a big fan of Britney’s music but I imagine she is a pretty cool person.  She’s been a star since she was small and she couldn’t really handle the attention for a while which tells me she is human. She is also quite pretty. Ahem…

Anyway, because I am late in telling you about this contest you don’t have much time left. About three days actually.

The winning design will be for sale in the Britney Spears Online Store, the winner will receive designer credit and once printed, we will send you a few of your winning t-shirts!

Contest submissions will be accepted starting September 14 at 9am PST, ending September 28 at 5pm PST.  Britney will pick her favorite design and we will announce the winner on October 5.

All contestants must be at least 13 years old and must reside in one of the following countries: United States: Canada (excluding the provence of Quebec), Great Britain or Ireland.

Pretty Green by Liam Gallagher

Liam Gallagher from Oasis has launched a new clothing line called Pretty Green. There are a few t-shirts in the line so I thought I’d let you know. Any Oasis fans out there? Anyway,  from what I can see on the official web site they are nothing special. The website is pretty cool for Gallagher fans though. There is a video and plenty of pictures.

As you can see the t-shirt above is pretty plain but apparently that is what he is going for. I think. To be honest I think Liam Gallagher is full of shit. On the one hand he says “I’m not here to rip anyone off and I’m not doing it for the money either. ” but on the other hand he is charging £40 for a one color logo t-shirt. That’s over US$65. He says he’s doing it “cuz there’s a lack of stuff out there of the things I would wear. The things I want you can’t really get, you know what I mean“, yet he says “It’s just a nice classic range I think. Just classic, you know, classic parka, classic trenchcoat, classic shoes, suede desert boots, nice jumper, nothing, no mad gear going on, just really plain blacks, browns, you know I mean nothing, nothing wild, you know what I mean…“. I think that you can get plenty of gear than fits the bill. Suede desert boots? OK maybe you have to go back in time to get those babies.

In the end he says “I’ve gotta make clothes that I like, you know, I’m not making it for anyone else.” so you have to wonder why he doesn’t just do that. It would be much cheaper and save you a lot of time.

I think I would have had more respect for him if he had just said “I’m in it for the money. My music is not as popular as it once was and I want to capitalize on what’s left of my stardom before I cross over from middle age to old age.“

Another TeeFury Preview

A little birdy has told me what the next three TeeFury designs are going to be (including current design). Well, a little more than a glimpse really but I think you can get a fair idea of what they are going to be like.

Last time Teefury gave us a preview of what was going to be printed I surmised that it was a bid to drum up sales and I guess I was right and it seems that it was pretty successful. The Obama zombie design became TeeFury’s best selling t-shirt to date selling 1,325 in one day and what do you know, another preview.

I think that this Saturday’s Thom Yorke caricature should do really well to. I don’t think old Thom would be too happy about TeeFury making a profit off his face but by the time he could do anything about it it’ll be too late as the tee will only be on sale for 24 hours. On the other hand, he might be pretty liberal considering the fact that Radiohead released an album allowing people to pay whatever they wanted for it.

All tees at TeeFury are $9 and, as mentioned before, on sale for only 24 hours. You snooze, you lose.
