Mad Andy Kaufman T-Shirt

American Apparel have just released this wild Andy Kaufman t-shirt. The shirt is about as wild as he is. I wouldn’t wear this, the print is too big and the Andy Kaufman face is a bit scary but I’m sure there are a few fans of both the style and the man out there who would be more than happy to don Andy’s face. Andy is probably turning in his grave. (Two posts in a row I am guessing what other people would feel and this time it’s a dead person. Maybe that’s my new thing.)

Side note: I was old enough to know who Andy Kaufman was before the Jim Carrey biopic came out. From the Taxi series. Although it was in Ireland so probably a few years after its release stateside.

Well, they were sure to come. I mean overnight this guy turned from sporting golden child to sleazebucket. This is not the first Tiger Woods cheater t-shirt and hopefully not the best and surely not the last either but it is a Tiger Woods cheater t-shirt. I do feel sorry for his wife and kids though.

10% Off Will Ferrell at Design by Humans

Will Ferrell has been spotted in a Design by Humans t-shirt and the world rejoices. Well, I don’t know about the world but there are a lot of people excited over at DBH. I am not a big fan of Will Ferrell’s brand of humor but he is very popular. I think that if he doesn’t have a hit movie soon he’ll become a direct to video victim though.

I know that there are a few freaks in the world who will want to wear this tee just because Will Ferrell is wearing it but unfortunately it is sold out at the moment…too bad losers. But you can have the design as your desktop wallpaper.

Anyway, maybe Design by Humans were so happy about this celebrity wearing their tee that they have provide a 10% off coupon that expires on November 15th: TNQCQK.

I came across this cool but slightly overpriced t-shirt this morning. If you are a fan of entourage’ Johnny Drama you might like this one.

Britney Spears T-Shirt Contest

OK, so the prize is pretty weak but for Britney fans the honor of designing a t-shirt that will be sold in her store will probably more than make up for it. I’m not a big fan of Britney’s music but I imagine she is a pretty cool person.  She’s been a star since she was small and she couldn’t really handle the attention for a while which tells me she is human. She is also quite pretty. Ahem…

Pretty Green by Liam Gallagher

Liam Gallagher models his own t-shirt

Liam Gallagher from Oasis has launched a new clothing line called Pretty Green. There are a few t-shirts in the line so I thought I’d let you know. Any Oasis fans out there? Anyway,  from what I can see on the official web site they are nothing special. The website is pretty cool for Gallagher fans though. There is a video and plenty of pictures.

As you can see the t-shirt above is pretty plain but apparently that is what he is going for. I think. To be honest I think Liam Gallagher is full of shit. On the one hand he says “I’m not here to rip anyone off and I’m not doing it for the money either. ” but on the other hand he is charging £40 for a one color logo t-shirt. That’s over US$65. He says he’s doing it “cuz there’s a lack of stuff out there of the things I would wear. The things I want you can’t really get, you know what I mean“, yet he says “It’s just a nice classic range I think. Just classic, you know, classic parka, classic trenchcoat, classic shoes, suede desert boots, nice jumper, nothing, no mad gear going on, just really plain blacks, browns, you know I mean nothing, nothing wild, you know what I mean…“. I think that you can get plenty of gear than fits the bill. Suede desert boots? OK maybe you have to go back in time to get those babies.

In the end he says “I’ve gotta make clothes that I like, you know, I’m not making it for anyone else.” so you have to wonder why he doesn’t just do that. It would be much cheaper and save you a lot of time.

I think I would have had more respect for him if he had just said “I’m in it for the money. My music is not as popular as it once was and I want to capitalize on what’s left of my stardom before I cross over from middle age to old age.

Another TeeFury Preview

A little birdy has told me what the next three TeeFury designs are going to be (including current design). Well, a little more than a glimpse really but I think you can get a fair idea of what they are going to be like.

TeeFury Preview

TeeFury Preview

Last time Teefury gave us a preview of what was going to be printed I surmised that it was a bid to drum up sales and I guess I was right and it seems that it was pretty successful. The Obama zombie design became TeeFury’s best selling t-shirt to date selling 1,325 in one day and what do you know, another preview.

I think that this Saturday’s Thom Yorke caricature should do really well to. I don’t think old Thom would be too happy about TeeFury making a profit off his face but by the time he could do anything about it it’ll be too late as the tee will only be on sale for 24 hours. On the other hand, he might be pretty liberal considering the fact that Radiohead released an album allowing people to pay whatever they wanted for it.

All tees at TeeFury are $9 and, as mentioned before, on sale for only 24 hours. You snooze, you lose.

Iffyton High Street

Iffyton High Street

I came across this very cool project a few days ago. It is a virtual street called Iffyton High Street. I guess it is for people who like to browse in many stores but don’t really like to leave the house. This is a British site and perhaps it is the British weather had inspired such an idea. Most of this street is made up of t-shirt stores but there are a few other features too. Well, I decided to take a little stroll and I’ll tell you about what I saw.

1. A Kick up the Grass – First up is a soccer (or football) inspired t-shirt store with a pretty small selection. They are done in the style of cartoons and include caricatures of famous scenes from football like Eric Cantona’s flying kick and Vinnie Jones’ ball crushing technique. Great themes but the shirts don’t really work for me. The shirts are all £9.99.

2. Rebel or be Damned – This is a punk themed store which features a Sid Vicious t-shirt, Winston Churchill with a mohican and a misplaced Marilyn Monroe tee. There are 7 tees in all and the first few don’t know whether they want to be a punk or a graphic t-shirt and end up as a not very interesting hodge podge.

3. Gettin Shirty – This store seems to be stocked with old rock band t-shirts like Guns ‘n Roses Appetite for Destruction and even Bon Jovi.  Not really my bag but you can’t say that an Iron Maiden Number of the Beast black t-shirt isn’t a great piece of retro rock art. All rock, all black and all £13.99.

4. Made in England – British themed t-shirts for $9.99. Sure beats I heart London. Some world famous faces like Churchill (again) and Johnny Rotten make an appearance as well as some more obscure characters from old British TV shows.

5. It’s grim up north – Strange name for a t-shirt store but possibly appropriate for most of the t-shirts in the store are pretty grim including Liam Gallagher (of Oasis) giving the two fingered salute. It has pretty much the same meaning as flipping the bird in the US.

6. Cream Tease – A few overpriced ($24.99) but reasonably well designed t-shirts that you might expect to see on a biker or perhaps a biker chick. Not my bag.

7. Royal T – If you like your t-shirt designs to be cartoons of Lego versions of pop culture icons such as Knight Rider,  the Beatles and Monkey you have found the right store. There are also some photo composites with celebrities like Audrey Hepburn on the decks and Bruce Lee with a skateboard. T-Shirts are $9.99. Check out the old school iPod.

8. End of the Line – A few tees at $5.99 and a lucky dip bundle of 5 t-shirts for only $10. Good price but of course you don’t know what you are going to get.

That’s about it for t-shirt stores but you can’t talk about Iffyton Street without mentioning TOT Shirts. TOT stands for Totally Original T-Shirts. They practically run this town. Nothing happens in Iffyton without them knowing about it. They are a screen printers but they provide a host of other services such as embroidery, bagging, tagging and packing.

If you want to set up store on Iffyton High Street you might have to talk to them. On top of producing the t-shirts for you they also provide a whole range of fulfillment services. Find out more at the Iffyton Web Store.

There is more to Iffyton High Street than shopping though. They have a concert venue called Iffy Voices.

Harajuku Lovers Tee on HIMYM

Those of you who watch How I Met Your Mother probably remember that Lily (played by Alyson Hannigan) has a bit of a shopping addiction. She is supposed to be a bit of a fashion maniac. She does dress well but I guess it doesn’t take much to look good beside Marshall who is always wearing the same old jeans and retro style tees. Anyway I noticed one t-shirt she was wearing had some kanji on the top corner and, having an interest in things Japanese, I thought I would try find it.

It didn’t take very long for me to find out that it was a Harajuku Lovers piece. Quite a nice shirt too. Harajuku Lovers is Gwen Stefani’s Japan inspired clothing line. This shirt costs $45 from R&S Avenue which is a pretty decent price to pay for quality. I reckon it would cost much more in Harajuku if you could actually find it there. Ongaku means music for those who are curious.

The Spirit T-Shirts

The Spirit was released on Christmas Day and the reception was mixed: cold and lukewarm. I read headlines like:

‘The Spirit’ moves from comics to farce
and
Movie review: Don’t waste money on ‘The Spirit’

and decided that this movie may just be worth missing.  To be honest, unless it got amazing reviews I was likely to miss it anyway because I was a bit disappointed with Frank Miller’s Sin City movie.

On the other hand The Spirit has both Eva Mendez and Scarlett Johansson and that almost would have guaranteed it a DVD rental but alas it is not likely to be.

On the other hand you don’t have to be a fan of the movie to enjoy these official tees that are available on Cafepress.
