Rolling Stone Obama Inauguration T-Shirt at Cafepress

Just head over to Cafepress and you can quickly see that they are promoting a limited edition Rolling Stone Collection Obama Inauguration t-shirt which is being sold in the Rock the Vote Cafepress store.  It’s a pretty nice shirt with a slick design. Unlike most Cafepress designs this is not available on a host if items from mugs to clocks to hoodies. It is only available on a women’s gray tee and a men’s gray tee. Also unlike the other items for sale at Cafepress the print area is very high on the shirt. It almost touches the neck. There is also a printed tag inside the back of the tee which you can see below.

I do like those printed tags. Another thing to notice is the price tag. It is only $15.  The base price for a dark grey tee like this for regular shopkeepers at Cafepress is $18.99. I think you could add another $2 for the backprint too. So, for a Cafepress t-shirt this is great value.

Free Inauguration Cap from CafepressThey are also offering a free Inauguration Cap for everybody who purchases one of these t-shirts while also spending $50 or more. Unfortunately it is not very clear whether you have to purchase $50 worth of Inauguration tees, or perhaps from the Rock the Vote store, or maybe even just from Cafepress. If you purchase one let us know how it went. Below are conditions for the free cap which looks more like a hat.

*Free Inauguration Cap with purchase of the Rolling Stone Commemorative T-shirt and an order of $50 or more, excluding shipping charges and applicable sales tax. Limit one per qualifying order while supplies last. No coupon code required. This offer may change, be modified or cancelled at anytime without notice. Free Inauguration Cap cannot be returned for credit, redeemed for cash or exchanged.

The Spirit T-Shirts

The Spirit was released on Christmas Day and the reception was mixed: cold and lukewarm. I read headlines like:

‘The Spirit’ moves from comics to farce
and
Movie review: Don’t waste money on ‘The Spirit’

and decided that this movie may just be worth missing.  To be honest, unless it got amazing reviews I was likely to miss it anyway because I was a bit disappointed with Frank Miller’s Sin City movie.

On the other hand The Spirit has both Eva Mendez and Scarlett Johansson and that almost would have guaranteed it a DVD rental but alas it is not likely to be.

On the other hand you don’t have to be a fan of the movie to enjoy these official tees that are available on Cafepress.

Cafepress Promo Videos

Cafepress have again been spotted doing TV err… spots. I don’t live in the US so I haven’t seen them but I imagine they are shortened down versions of these three videos below. They are connected to the Ungiftables web site that Cafepress created and that I mentioned a few days ago. I prefer the website to the videos but I thought I would share these with you just in case.

The Washington Post on Cafepress

Sales of pro-Obama t-shirts have been so great this past year that I guess they even be comparable to sales of anti-Bush t-shirts in the past 8 years or so. It’s good to dwell on positivity though. In Cafepress the Washington Post have a shop where, on top of some pretty crap t-shirts, you can actually get your hands on a newspaper, a Washington Post commemorative newspaper. It is, of course, commemorating Barack Obama’s victorious election campaign.

Commemorative Edition Paper includes front section and election section from the paper published 11/05/08. Be a part of history with this limited edition Washington Post newspaper today.

It costs $9.95 for the paper or you can get a t-shirt with the front page printed on it. I’m guessing that Cafepress don’t actually print the newspaper but just arrange the sale and shipping. It makes me wonder what other non-standard items you can get through these PODs like Cafepress and Zazzle. If you know of any please leave a comment below.

Mad Men Art at Zazzle

I came across this wonderful art at Zazzle which was obviously created by a fan of the tv show, Mad Men. I love this show. I think it is the best TV drama I have seen for a while and I think that this artist (Dyna Moe) has captured the essence of the show in her art. Below is a poster of a cutout Joan Holloway doll. I imagine a lot of men having been imagining dressing and undressing this super sexy vixen. Probably a few women too. I think this paper doll is about as close as any of us will ever come to doing it though.

I guess there may be some copyright infringement going on here and these might not stay up on Zazzle very long but they are so cool I hope this is not the case. If you want to get your hands on one of these great items though I recommend not waiting. You can find out more about the artist at her web site, Nobody’s Sweetheart and find more of her goods at Zazzle.

For those of you looking for Mad Men t-shirts there are a few uninspired tees at Cafepress. Click on the Mad Men tee shirts below to check out the slim selection.

Cafepress have created a funny new site to help you choose presents for those people who make buying gifts a chore. To be honest I think it is more funny than functional but it is well worth checking out just to meet the characters. I mean “It’s fine, not totally lame!” The Ungiftables.

Cafepress Goes International Too

It just seems like yesterday when Zazzle announced their .co.uk site (it was yesterday) and now it seems that Cafepress are also going to do the same thing. This is great news again.  I just received the following information from Cafepress and I am guessing it is because of Zazzle’s announcement about their UK site as Cafepress almost never tell us what they are going to do during system maintenance.

We have a few things happening in this System Maintenance we’d like to share with everyone:

* Teddy Bear upgrade - no price increase. This will be automatic.
* Product Thumbnail update for: Organic T-Shirt and Hoodie
* Keep Shopping link will be fixed
* Upload button on sections will be fixed
* We will be releasing the following localized sites: UK, Canada, and Australia. (More shipping options and currency conversion - more information after launch)

I made the last line bold but I thought it was quite funny the way it was just added to the end of the list very casually, like “Oh yeah, and we almost forgot, and I’m not too sure if it’s really even news, but just incase you are interested, we are going global.”

Three more domains. I have no real idea how this will affect us but I suspect it will result in a greater number of sales for shopkeepers.

Wear a Tuxedo on Election Day

Cafepress have just released a video telling you not to wear your political t-shirts and flair to the polling booths. They are trying to make your that your vote gets counted as in some parts of the county wearing your flair may be considered electioneering and you will get turned away. I am not American but I urge you to vote if you are.

I never expected to hear Cafepress tell you not to wear their products but it makes sense and even makes you smile. “Choose something safe to wear, like a button-down or a nice tuxedo.” Perhaps they mean something like this tuxedo t-shirt from Vintage Cotton.

Cafepress Redesigns its Web Site

In the last few months there has been a lot of seemingly minor activities happening at Cafepress. I didn’t even guess that they were in the process of redesigning the whole web site but that is what they have done. I think it looks great. The site is clean and easy to navigate. The old site design was very clean too but it had a rigid appearance whereas the new store looks more free. Thankfully, apart from the search bar and the top buttons on the sidebar they have skipped that whole Web 2.0 look that has really started to annoy me and even they were done in such a way as to almost match the new look. A lot of people aren’t so happy with the new logo but I really don’t think it matters. People come for the designs, not the Cafepress label. As long as our designs and items are presented better they should sell better and I think the faded tones and a weak-ass logo (sorry CP) will help the customer focus on the designs.

To celebrate the new look Cafepress has provided us with coupons although you have spend over $50 to avail of the $5 off. There may be other conditions too.

There seems to be a game of one up going on with Zazzle and Cafepress which is good for everybody as far as I can see (with the possibe exception of Zazzle and Cafepress). It should create better conditions for shopkeepers and shoppers alike. Zazzle revamped their image a short while ago too. I wonder what is coming next from the big Z? (See next post.)

T-Shirt Design becomes Tattoo

Have you ever thought to yourself that the design on that t-shirt is so good that I want to have it permanently inked onto my skin as a tattoo? No? You haven’t? Really? No? No. Well, me neither but someone has as and as  you can see in the following photo they chose a super cute design.

jgoode penguin Tattoo

The designs are the penguins created by JGoode and sold in a Cafepress store. I think these irresistible penguins are probably some of the most well known items on Cafepress. They are available in a huge range of themes. For example, as you can see below there are penguins for Republicans, Democrats and Independents.

Of course if you are not political you can definitely find something to suit you interests. There is a huge range of these little penguins covering so many areas including sports, hobbies, jobs, families and even some that defy categorization. You have to see them to believe them. Head over to the Lil’ Penguin Shop and choose your very own cute penguin t-shirt. It is also a great place to get Christmas gifts.

You can read more about the artist and this tattoo on the artists blog.
