Adopt a Pet T-Shirt by Shepard Fairey

When I first saw this I thought to myself: another Shepard Fairey knock-off. But it turns out that this design was actually knocked out by Shepard Fairey himself. Imagine that! Anyway, the tee is cute enough if you can get over the whole Shepard Fairey thing and it’s for a good cause. All profits go to Adopt-a-Pet.com.

Hide Your Arms T-Shirt

If you have been following @RudeRetro on Twitter you will know that I am off running for a bit because of my knee. You should also know that Andy from Hide Your Arms finally put his t-shirt on sale. He recently had a new logo designed, has a new website and a matching t-shirt. He has a store in both Storenvy and hosted by Big Cartel. They are selling the same t-shirt which makes me wonder how he manages the stock.

Hide Your Arms logo t-shirt

It’s a pretty sweet tee and a great color for the summer. I have to admit that I have been considering it but it’d be a little odd for me to wear it. On the other hand I’d much rather wear it than my own non-logo logo t-shirt. Hell, this blog doesn’t even have its own domain. I have been thinking about doing something about that for a while too but it’s a bit of a hassle.

Anyway, the HYA logo tee comes in girls (see above)  and boys American Apparel tees and are printed by the awesome Storenvy. And I bet it’s one of those t-shirts that just gets better as it fades. Shit, I’ve almost convinced myself to get one.

Lost Polar Beer T-Shirt is back!

Ian Leino sent me an email a while back to let me know that this Lost inspired t-shirt, which in its previous incarnation was sold at Teefury, was making its second appearance in his own Big Cartel hosted store.

I ripped this quote from host blog because it has some juicy details about the creation of this design:

Lost Parody: Polar Beer T-Shirt by Ian Leino

Created entirely by hand with scratchboard, my newest design squarely inhabits the junction of LOST mythology and classic beer label design, executed in a vintage, hand-tooled style rarely seen in t-shirt graphics. Or at least I’VE never used it before

This t-shirt was popular enough at Teefury that even one of the writers of the show was wearing it. Not bad considering it was on sale for just one day.

I am a fan of Lost and am looking forward to seeing how it plays out. I hope they have some good explanations and conclusions.

$85 Google Designer Shirt

It’s not all that long ago that I posted about a Google t-shirt but here we are again. This t-shirt is a special designer t-shirt that I wouldn’t be caught wearing. It’s just too much. And I’m not talking about the money either but that is also too much.
Google's Peace “Vintage” Inspired T Shirt by Gary Graham

Here is a little more information about the tee:

This 100% cotton, hand silk-screened tee shirt takes its inspiration from the Google map point and search results graphics. Gary has reinterpreted the map point — a point of destination — as a global symbol for where we are and where we’re going by enlarging the map point, making it look “worn” away, and placing it over a backdrop of search results for the word ‘Peace.’ The distressed, vintage-looking tee shirts were hand silk-screened by Devil’s Rainbow in Providence, Rhode Island. Men’s’ tee comes in sizes Small, Medium and Large. Purchase of these items supports the designers and the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund.

Sinfully Good Skull T-Shirt

I’l admit that I am not a big fan of skull t-shirts, the dearth of them on The T-Shirt Review is a testament to that fact. This t-shirt though blew me away. This design must have taken a lot of time. Even at a glance you can tell that it is special but when you really take a good look at it and understand the level of complexity and the intricacy you realize how truly impressive this t-shirt is.
7 sins skull t-shirt by Joby Cummings

The design comes from illustrator and tattoo artist Joby Cummings who kindly explained the design for the T-Shirt Review:

The 7sins shirt was an exercise in letter design conforming to the shape of a skull and making sure all of the words had symbolic placement in the geography of the design.

in the order of the placement..
greed, wrath: left brain, right brain respectively
sloth: in the forehead i always felt that to be the sleepy part of the head
envy: over the eyes leering vision
lust: eyes and nose sight and smell are very sexual
gluttony: mouth
pride: chin

Now that’s a big bowl of awesome. The design is also available as a print and for that he turned his design skills up a notch or three.

I haven’t had time to post recently but I have been keeping up on things. One of the big things in the t-shirt industry in the last month or so has been the support for the victims of the earthquake in Haiti. Here are a collection of t-shirts or sites that are doing their bit.

1. Flying Mouse is contributing all profits from this tee too Unicef.

2. Local Celebrity collaborate with Yele Haiti and 100% of tee profits go there.

3. Threadless are contributing all proceeds (not just profit) from the sale of this tee to The American Red Cross and Haiti Relief and Development Fund. At the time of writing this post they have already sold 7000 of these $10 tees and they plan to sell up to 15,000 more. Awesome!

4. Bungie (makers of video game Halo?) are contributing profits from this t-shirt as well as all online store profits through February directly to the relief efforts in Haiti.

5. Cafepress had a t-shirt designed by Shepard Fairey (which is no longer on sale) as well as designs donated from the community which are still available. Cafepress have already donated $30,000 to the US fund for UNICEF.

6. Storenvy have a selection of beautiful shirts and $8 from each sale will go to the American Red Cross. Lots of designers offered up their designs and they all deserve a shout out but only six were chosen.

7. Blink 182 apparently raised $30,000 for Haiti with this t-shirt but it doesn’t seem to be on sale anymore.

8. Lady Gaga also added her celebrity power to a charity t-shirt with all proceeds going to the Red Cross.

9. ZBQ will donate $6 from every t-shirt sold in their until the end of February which is pretty awesome as they have a great collection of original tees.

There are those designs you see that you say to yourself: why didn’t I think of that. And those designs are usually very clever and make you feel a bit envious. Then there are designs that make say: Wow! I would never have thought of that. And they make make you envious but more likely they just leave you in awe of the person’s talent. Falling into this second category are designs by Daniel Newman aka Quakerninja.

Daniel has a plan to start his own clothing line and I am sure a lot of people are excited about it. I know  I am as Daniel has kindly given me a sneak peak of what’s to come. As I am kindly passing on to you……….You’re very welcome.

The Agreeable Mr. Filagree - Threadless T-shirts, Nude No MoreIf you like Daniel Newman’s work and you’d like to see those t-shirts sooner rather than later I recommend heading over to Threadless and voting for his design. If you miss the live event don’t worry, there are recordings you can watch on Ustream.

As I mentioned sometime before Christmas, Zazzle have a new project called LABz in which they produce limited edition t-shirts using the latest technology and techniques. We are supposed to be seeing a new t-shirt every week and perhaps this year we will.

The second LABz t-shirt and the first of 2010 comes from designer, Mildred and below the images you can read the description. But first check out the fearsome creatures on this shirt.

GROUP SHOT T-Shirt by Mildred at ZazzleGROUP SHOT Womens T-Shirt by Mildred

We hit up our guy Mildred for a bio. Here’s what he told us. “I’m a guy. I make stuff and eat and sleep. I also like beer and pizza. i’m from Michigan but i’m in CA now. who knows where next. the end.”

Mildred’s Group Shot image uses bold, full-bleed screenprinting with flocked outlines on selected characters, and an iconic Mildred character and signature in flock on the back.

Available on American Apparel Army Green Men’s & Women’s Fine Jersey Short Sleeve T’s. On sale through Sunday, January 17th.

The tee costs just $17.95 but the guys at LABz have very generously provided The T-Shirt Review readers with a $5 off coupon. Use MILDREDLABZ5 at checkout. $12.95 is great value for this awesome t-shirt.

Karl Long has Robot Sex

Karl Long, the TCritic, has released another t-shirt. This one seems to have come unannounced. I got the info from TRoundUp a few days ago. Apparently there is something “to get” in the design but I haven’t gotten it yet. If you do please let me know in the comments.

Free Robot Sex T-Shirt from Karl Long of TCritic

Karl Long is the most popular t-shirt blogger on the planet (probably) so I was happy when I saw The T-Shirt Review blog mentioned together with TCritic and Andy’s Hide Your Arms by t-shirt designer Zomboy as being one of the three blogs he follows.

Well it seems Karl is getting into the design game too. If that is really his design, it is a pretty good start.
